আপনি কী বলেন সেটা important, কিন্তু কীভাবে বলেন সেটা আরও important. Freelancing-এ best communication style হলো Assertive: respectful, clear, confident.

৩টা communication style

1. Passive

Passive freelancer সবকিছুতেই হ্যাঁ বলে, boundary রাখে না, নিজের value কমায়.

Anything is okay for me. I’ll do whatever you want.

Problem: client আপনাকে decision-maker না, order-taker ভাবতে পারে.

2. Aggressive

Aggressive freelancer নিজের process চাপিয়ে দেয়, blame করে, tone harsh হয়.

If you don’t agree with my process, I won’t work.

Problem: client safe feel করে না. Relationship নষ্ট হয়.

3. Assertive

Assertive freelancer respect রেখেও নিজের position clear করে.

I’d love to help, but I’m currently booked this week. Can we start next Monday?

এখানে না বলা হয়েছে, কিন্তু rudeভাবে না. Boundary আছে, helpfulness-ও আছে.

Assertive message formula

Respect + Reality + Option

• Respect: client-এর request acknowledge করুন.
• Reality: আপনার availability/scope/budget limitation বলুন.
• Option: possible next step দিন.

সবসময় yes বললে client খুশি হবে মনে হতে পারে, কিন্তু long-term-এ আপনি underpaid and burned out হয়ে যাবেন. আবার rude হলে client চলে যাবে. Assertive style আপনাকে professional রাখে.

Assertive boundary examples

Assertive হওয়া মানে না বলা না। Assertive হওয়া মানে respect রেখে reality clear করা। Beginner freelancerদের জন্য এই জায়গাটাই hardest, কারণ তারা ভাবে no বললে client হারাবে। আসলে clear boundary অনেক সময় trust বাড়ায়।

• Deadline: I want to keep the quality right. The earliest clean delivery time is [date].
• Revision: Happy to revise it. Please share the top 2 changes first so we can keep it focused.
• Budget: Within this budget, I suggest we start with [smaller scope].

এই lines-গুলোতে respect আছে, কিন্তু fear নেই। Freelancing-এ এই balanceটাই important।
